Driving a van in Brent

Work here revolves around a dense, well-connected patch of north-west London with Wembley Stadium station just 0.5 miles from the centre, so it is simple to load at the kerb and be on the move quickly to nearby jobs. Retail collections are a regular fixture because Stadium Retail Park is 0.2 miles away and London Designer Outlet (LDO) is 0.3 miles, with Shopper's Plaza 1.1 miles, so flat-pack and furniture collected from the retail parks slot neatly between larger moves. Self storage runs are frequent too, with Self Storage 1.1 miles, Securus Safe Deposit Centres 1.2 miles, Shurgard Self-Storage 1.4 miles and Access Self Storage Neasden 1.5 miles making short, efficient shuttles in and out of units. Tip runs are straightforward, with Greenford Re-use and Recycling Centre 4 miles from the centre for old furniture, garden waste and clutter. The town’s work naturally spreads across close neighbours by road: Harrow is 4.8 miles away in 20 minutes, Ealing 6.4 miles in 24 minutes, Barnet 8 miles in 22 minutes, Camden 8.3 miles in 28 minutes, Hammersmith and Fulham 8.4 miles in 30 minutes, Borehamwood 9.2 miles in 32 minutes, Kensington and Chelsea 9.7 miles in 37 minutes, the City of Westminster 9.9 miles in 36 minutes, Hillingdon 11.6 miles in 30 minutes and Bushey 16.7 miles in 28 minutes, so house and flat moves to and from the towns nearby are part of most weeks. Student moves at the start and end of term come up around Westminster University, Harrow Campus 2.3 miles and Hendon Police College 2.8 miles, while flat moves within the town itself are steady all year across NW10, HA9, HA0, NW2 and NW9. Single items such as a sofa, a bed, a wardrobe or a washing machine fill gaps between larger runs, and hospitals including Central Middlesex Hospital 2 miles, Northwick Park Hospital 2.2 miles and Cygnet Hospital 2.6 miles often sit near pick-ups or drop-offs. It is a practical patch to drive, with short hops, predictable fixed-price jobs and plenty of returning customers who need loads into and out of self storage.

Drivers say.

We've just opened in Brent.

Be the first Brent driver.

Reviews from our partners appear here as they come in – no made-up quotes, ever. Early drivers get the first pick of jobs while we grow.

Good to know.

What drivers ask before they apply.

Am I employed by Van & Driver?+

No. You're self-employed, or you run a company. You choose every job. We send a statement each week you can hand to your accountant.

Can I bring a mate for the big jobs?+

Yes. When a job needs two people the price already covers it, and you keep the same 85%. Bring your own mate, or one of our drivers' mates can join you.

What insurance do I need, exactly?+

Hire and reward insurance for your van, goods in transit and public liability. A company with staff needs employers' liability too, and you need a waste carrier licence for tip runs. Upload them on your phone: we check them once and remind you before they run out. No waste carrier licence? We can sort one for you.

How fast am I paid after a job?+

Every Friday, straight to your bank, for jobs finished by Thursday midnight. No invoices to chase.

What if the customer changes the date?+

We ask you first. If the new time suits you, the job stays yours. If it doesn't, it goes to another driver and nothing counts against you.

Do you cover outside Brent?+

Yes. You set how far you'll travel from home, and jobs within that distance come to you first. We're taking on drivers in every town we cover.

How do I apply?+

Tap Apply to Van & Driver on vananddriver.co.uk/drive or your town's page, for example /drive/salisbury. It takes a minute: your name and mobile, the code we text you, then the jobs you want and your town. You're in. The rest is a checklist on your phone, in any order: your van (just type the reg), your documents, bank details, when you work, a photo and the agreement. Most drivers finish in ten minutes.
