Your van and driver in Bursledon
How it works, what it costs and who turns up.
01
What a van and driver is
A van, a driver, a fixed price – and no bidding.
A van and driver is the middle ground between hiring a van yourself and booking a removals firm.
02
Van and driver versus man and van
Same idea, better promise.
"Man and van" is what people search for; it usually means one person with their own van, quoted on the phone, paid in cash, and you hope they turn up.
03
What fits in each van
We measure in wheelie bins. One bin's worth is about eight bin bags.
Picture a wheelie bin. One bin's worth is a few boxes and bags. Two is a fridge or a washing machine with room to spare. Four is a room.
04
How the price works
Fixed prices, the same everywhere.
A move's price depends on how much is moving, not where you live. A wheelie bin's worth is £69 anywhere in England; a full load is £349 in Salisbury, Sheffield or Southend.
05
Who turns up
Checked, insured, rated – and paid properly.
Every driver is an independent partner who has shown us their licence, their hire-and-reward insurance, goods-in-transit and public liability cover, and their right to work, before they're offered a single job.
06
Lifting, stairs and awkward things
Two people when the job needs them, at no extra cost.
We decide from what you're moving: a sofa, a wardrobe, a fridge, or a medium load and up gets two people, and that's already in the price. There's nothing to choose and nothing extra to pay.
07
Booking, changing and cancelling
Two minutes to book. Change it yourself up to 48 hours before.
Book online for today (until 3pm; after that, tomorrow from 1pm) or any day up to about six months ahead, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
08
Same day? Yes, until 3pm.
Today, if you book by 3pm.
Book before 3pm and you can pick today: the earliest one-hour arrival is the hour after next (book at 10:20 and it's 12 to 1), if a partner's free. After 3pm, the earliest is 1pm tomorrow.
About Bursledon
Bursledon at a glance
Bursledon sits right on the River Hamble in the SO31 postcode area, with its own railway station barely half a mile from the centre and Netley, Hedge End and Whiteley all within a few miles. That makes it a village where a lot of moves are short hops rather than big cross-county hauls, whether you're heading to a new place in Netley, dropping furniture at Hedge End, or clearing space before a trip to a licensed recycling centre. Van & Driver works as a marketplace here: you book a van with a driver at a fixed price through the site, and the move itself is carried out by a local partner driver who knows the area. That covers everything from a single item collection to a full van load, whether it's a house removal, a man with a van move for a sofa or wardrobe, a next-day van when something's needed in a hurry, or a regular run to storage at one of the sites out towards Hamble Lane and beyond. Student removals around the academic year, marketplace deliveries, and commercial courier work are all handled the same way, with the price fixed before the van arrives so there are no surprises once the move is under way. Bursledon's compact size and its position between the water and the busier retail areas along the A27 mean most trips stay short, which keeps things simple for anyone booking a van in the village.
Bursledon had 8,072 people at the 2021 Census. Furniture and flat-pack from Hedge End Retail Park, Bradbeers Retail park and Whiteley Village is a common single-item run. The council's nearest recycling centre is Netley Household Waste Recycling Centre, 1.0 miles away; a tip run with us goes to a licensed recycling centre, with the disposal in the price.
