Your van and driver in Glastonbury
How it works, what it costs and who turns up.
01
What a van and driver is
A van, a driver, a fixed price – and no bidding.
A van and driver is the middle ground between hiring a van yourself and booking a removals firm.
02
Van and driver versus man and van
Same idea, better promise.
"Man and van" is what people search for; it usually means one person with their own van, quoted on the phone, paid in cash, and you hope they turn up.
03
What fits in each van
We measure in wheelie bins. One bin's worth is about eight bin bags.
Picture a wheelie bin. One bin's worth is a few boxes and bags. Two is a fridge or a washing machine with room to spare. Four is a room.
04
How the price works
Fixed prices, the same everywhere.
A move's price depends on how much is moving, not where you live. A wheelie bin's worth is £69 anywhere in England; a full load is £349 in Salisbury, Sheffield or Southend.
05
Who turns up
Checked, insured, rated – and paid properly.
Every driver is an independent partner who has shown us their licence, their hire-and-reward insurance, goods-in-transit and public liability cover, and their right to work, before they're offered a single job.
06
Lifting, stairs and awkward things
Two people when the job needs them, at no extra cost.
We decide from what you're moving: a sofa, a wardrobe, a fridge, or a medium load and up gets two people, and that's already in the price. There's nothing to choose and nothing extra to pay.
07
Booking, changing and cancelling
Two minutes to book. Change it yourself up to 48 hours before.
Book online for today (until 3pm; after that, tomorrow from 1pm) or any day up to about six months ahead, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
08
Same day? Yes, until 3pm.
Today, if you book by 3pm.
Book before 3pm and you can pick today: the earliest one-hour arrival is the hour after next (book at 10:20 and it's 12 to 1), if a partner's free. After 3pm, the earliest is 1pm tomorrow.
About Glastonbury
Glastonbury at a glance
Glastonbury sits under the shadow of the Tor, with its BA6 postcode covering a town of just over 8,300 people, close enough to Street that the two are practically neighbours at just over two miles apart. Van & Driver connects you with a van and driver here at a fixed price, whether you're clearing a single item from a flat near The Gauntlet or shifting a full house load across town. Man with a van moves, furniture delivery, tip runs and next-day bookings are all covered, alongside larger house removals and storage moves for those using facilities like Beehive Self Storage out towards Street. Students moving in or out, businesses needing a commercial courier, or anyone buying furniture through an online marketplace and needing it collected and delivered can all use the same simple booking system. Prices are fixed in advance, so a trip within Glastonbury itself costs the same whether you book a single item or a full van, and journeys further out to Wells or Somerton are priced just as clearly. There's no need to negotiate or guess at costs beforehand. Once you've chosen the right van size and confirmed your route, a local partner driver takes care of the move, leaving you free to get on with the rest of your move or delivery without worrying about logistics.
Glastonbury had 8,304 people at the 2021 Census. Furniture and flat-pack from The Gauntlet, Clarks Village and The Bayliss Centre is a common single-item run. The council's nearest recycling centre is Household recycling centre, 6.4 miles away; a tip run with us goes to a licensed recycling centre, with the disposal in the price.
