Your van and driver in Windsor
How it works, what it costs and who turns up.
01
What a van and driver is
A van, a driver, a fixed price – and no bidding.
A van and driver is the middle ground between hiring a van yourself and booking a removals firm.
02
Van and driver versus man and van
Same idea, better promise.
"Man and van" is what people search for; it usually means one person with their own van, quoted on the phone, paid in cash, and you hope they turn up.
03
What fits in each van
We measure in wheelie bins. One bin's worth is about eight bin bags.
Picture a wheelie bin. One bin's worth is a few boxes and bags. Two is a fridge or a washing machine with room to spare. Four is a room.
04
How the price works
Fixed prices, the same everywhere.
A move's price depends on how much is moving, not where you live. A wheelie bin's worth is £69 anywhere in England; a full load is £349 in Salisbury, Sheffield or Southend.
05
Who turns up
Checked, insured, rated – and paid properly.
Every driver is an independent partner who has shown us their licence, their hire-and-reward insurance, goods-in-transit and public liability cover, and their right to work, before they're offered a single job.
06
Lifting, stairs and awkward things
Two people when the job needs them, at no extra cost.
We decide from what you're moving: a sofa, a wardrobe, a fridge, or a medium load and up gets two people, and that's already in the price. There's nothing to choose and nothing extra to pay.
07
Booking, changing and cancelling
Two minutes to book. Change it yourself up to 48 hours before.
Book online for today (until 3pm; after that, tomorrow from 1pm) or any day up to about six months ahead, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
08
Same day? Yes, until 3pm.
Today, if you book by 3pm.
Book before 3pm and you can pick today: the earliest one-hour arrival is the hour after next (book at 10:20 and it's 12 to 1), if a partner's free. After 3pm, the earliest is 1pm tomorrow.
About Windsor
Windsor at a glance
Windsor's tight permit parking zone near the centre, just a fifth of a mile from where most journeys start, makes loading a van a different proposition here than in most towns, which is exactly why a fixed-price van with driver makes sense for residents in SL4. Whether you're moving out of a flat near Windsor and Eton Central or Windsor and Eton Riverside station, clearing items ahead of a trip to a licensed recycling centre, or shifting boxes into Admirals Yard Self Storage, Van & Driver connects you with a local partner driver who handles the move at a price agreed before you book. The same applies for longer trips: households heading out towards Old Windsor and Wraysbury, or across to Slough and its retail parks, can get a full van or half van booked at a set rate rather than negotiating on the day. Students at nearby Royal Holloway or Imperial College's Silwood Park campus moving in or out of term-time accommodation, and anyone doing a straightforward tip run or furniture delivery, can use the same booking process. Van & Driver covers man-with-a-van moves, house removals, storage moves and commercial courier work throughout Windsor, with every price fixed in advance so there are no surprises when the van and driver turn up.
Windsor had 31,569 people at the 2021 Census. Furniture and flat-pack from Slough Retail Park, Westgate Retail Park and Bath Road Shopping Park is a common single-item run. The council's nearest recycling centre is Chalvey Recycling Centre, 2.3 miles away; a tip run with us goes to a licensed recycling centre, with the disposal in the price.
