Your van and driver in Ewell
How it works, what it costs and who turns up.
01
What a van and driver is
A van, a driver, a fixed price – and no bidding.
A van and driver is the middle ground between hiring a van yourself and booking a removals firm.
02
Van and driver versus man and van
Same idea, better promise.
"Man and van" is what people search for; it usually means one person with their own van, quoted on the phone, paid in cash, and you hope they turn up.
03
What fits in each van
We measure in wheelie bins. One bin's worth is about eight bin bags.
Picture a wheelie bin. One bin's worth is a few boxes and bags. Two is a fridge or a washing machine with room to spare. Four is a room.
04
How the price works
Fixed prices, the same everywhere.
A move's price depends on how much is moving, not where you live. A wheelie bin's worth is £69 anywhere in England; a full load is £349 in Salisbury, Sheffield or Southend.
05
Who turns up
Checked, insured, rated – and paid properly.
Every driver is an independent partner who has shown us their licence, their hire-and-reward insurance, goods-in-transit and public liability cover, and their right to work, before they're offered a single job.
06
Lifting, stairs and awkward things
Two people when the job needs them, at no extra cost.
We decide from what you're moving: a sofa, a wardrobe, a fridge, or a medium load and up gets two people, and that's already in the price. There's nothing to choose and nothing extra to pay.
07
Booking, changing and cancelling
Two minutes to book. Change it yourself up to 48 hours before.
Book online for today (until 3pm; after that, tomorrow from 1pm) or any day up to about six months ahead, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
08
Same day? Yes, until 3pm.
Today, if you book by 3pm.
Book before 3pm and you can pick today: the earliest one-hour arrival is the hour after next (book at 10:20 and it's 12 to 1), if a partner's free. After 3pm, the earliest is 1pm tomorrow.
About Ewell
Ewell at a glance
Ewell sits right where the KT19 and KT17 postcode districts meet, with Ewell East station barely a tenth of a mile from the centre and Ewell West not much further, making this a compact town to move around even before you factor in a van. Epsom lies just 1.6 miles away, and Worcester Park and Stoneleigh are close enough to be part of daily life for many Ewell households, whether that means a shopping trip to the Ashley Centre or a delivery run out towards Spread Eagle Walk. Van & Driver is opening soon in Ewell, bringing a simple way to arrange a van with a driver for house removals, furniture delivery, tip runs, student moves and storage runs to and from places like Shurgard Self-Storage or the bigger units further out towards Sutton. Once live, the service will cover local moves within Ewell itself as well as trips out to Epsom, Worcester Park and Stoneleigh, and Tadworth and Epsom Downs, all at a fixed price agreed before the move starts rather than anything worked out by the hour. There's no need to hunt for a separate man-with-a-van operator and a removals firm separately: the same booking covers single items, half a van load or a full van, whether it's a student clearing a room near the Ewell stations or a household shifting furniture across to Epsom.
Ewell had 27,509 people at the 2021 Census. Furniture and flat-pack from Spread Eagle Walk and Ashley Centre is a common single-item run. The council's nearest recycling centre is Recycling Center, 0.6 miles away; a tip run with us goes to a licensed recycling centre, with the disposal in the price.
