Your van and driver in Redhill
How it works, what it costs and who turns up.
01
What a van and driver is
A van, a driver, a fixed price – and no bidding.
A van and driver is the middle ground between hiring a van yourself and booking a removals firm.
02
Van and driver versus man and van
Same idea, better promise.
"Man and van" is what people search for; it usually means one person with their own van, quoted on the phone, paid in cash, and you hope they turn up.
03
What fits in each van
We measure in wheelie bins. One bin's worth is about eight bin bags.
Picture a wheelie bin. One bin's worth is a few boxes and bags. Two is a fridge or a washing machine with room to spare. Four is a room.
04
How the price works
Fixed prices, the same everywhere.
A move's price depends on how much is moving, not where you live. A wheelie bin's worth is £69 anywhere in England; a full load is £349 in Salisbury, Sheffield or Southend.
05
Who turns up
Checked, insured, rated – and paid properly.
Every driver is an independent partner who has shown us their licence, their hire-and-reward insurance, goods-in-transit and public liability cover, and their right to work, before they're offered a single job.
06
Lifting, stairs and awkward things
Two people when the job needs them, at no extra cost.
We decide from what you're moving: a sofa, a wardrobe, a fridge, or a medium load and up gets two people, and that's already in the price. There's nothing to choose and nothing extra to pay.
07
Booking, changing and cancelling
Two minutes to book. Change it yourself up to 48 hours before.
Book online for today (until 3pm; after that, tomorrow from 1pm) or any day up to about six months ahead, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
08
Same day? Yes, until 3pm.
Today, if you book by 3pm.
Book before 3pm and you can pick today: the earliest one-hour arrival is the hour after next (book at 10:20 and it's 12 to 1), if a partner's free. After 3pm, the earliest is 1pm tomorrow.
About Redhill
Redhill at a glance
Redhill sits in the RH1 postcode area of Surrey, with Earlswood station just a fifth of a mile from the centre and Redhill's own station a short walk beyond it, making this a well-connected spot for anyone moving items in or out of town. Van & Driver is preparing to launch here, bringing van with driver and man and van services to Redhill and neighbouring places such as Reigate, just 1.4 miles away, along with South Merstham and Horley further afield. Once live, the marketplace will let people book a fixed-price van with a driver for moves ranging from house removals and furniture delivery to tip runs, next-day moves, storage transfers, student removals and commercial courier work, all covering Redhill and its surrounding towns. The service is designed to take the stress out of arranging transport by matching customers with local partner drivers at a set price agreed in advance, rather than leaving people to negotiate costs after the fact. Redhill's position close to Reigate and within reach of towns like Caterham and Horley makes it a useful base for moves both within the town and further into Surrey. While Van & Driver is not yet bookable in Redhill, this page will be updated as soon as the service goes live, so check back to see when you can arrange a van with driver here.
Redhill had 32,516 people at the 2021 Census. Furniture and flat-pack from Belfry Shopping Centre and The Belfry Shopping Centre is a common single-item run. The council's nearest recycling centre is Earlswood Community Recycling Centre, 0.7 miles away; a tip run with us goes to a licensed recycling centre, with the disposal in the price.
